The 5 Needs in Life Series
Our behaviors are often a reflection of one or more of our needs being unmet in daily life. We all have the same 5 basic needs in life; the needs do not change but how we meet the needs changes with time. Do you know what your basic needs are in life are? Do your children, grandchildren, teens and young adults know the needs they have and seek to meet daily. The 5 Needs in Life series can help you to help yourself and others too.
Each workbook comes from a strength based perspective. We believe people want to do what is right and good and often have no idea why they are acting in unbecoming ways .Some people will use the workbooks to learn to identify their needs, will be challenged to consider what their present behaviors are doing for them and what may need to be changed. Some people who have “deeper issues” to deal with will have an easier time approaching these “hard to talk about things” as they discover the 5 basic needs we all share in life. For some people, this will come as a relief and the “normalize” this information will bring to them can help them find what they seek.
The workbooks can be used as “assignments” to empower students or clients. The workbooks can be a foundation of family activities to learn about the family history: how did grandparents meet the needs. How do we as a family meet the needs and how does each individual meet the needs in their life? This can allow communication to begin that was otherwise perhaps only seen in many negative behaviors and unmet meet needs. Learning together as a family can create life long, pleasant memories and strengthen relationships. Each member can work it alone or you can do it as a group, prizes and rewards can increase the fun and enjoyment. Being creative with the workbooks is always good.
The workbooks do not have specific ages assigned to them due to the many differences in reading, writing and compression abilities; instead there are categories for each workbook. All the workbooks are based on the 5 basic needs and approached from that age group's distinct need. When a family works through the workbooks together, they will be able to communicate about each need at the various levels in the family.
Before you try to teach it, learn it, do a workbook for yourself and see what you discover. You may be surprised.
