Grounded In Love

ECOLOGY, FAITH AND ACTION

by Nancy Roth

A series of lively and personal meditations leads the reader from the love in which all meaningful action is grounded, through the concern which is the catalyst for action and the ethics which guides our decision-making, to a consideration of some practical actions we can take in order to embody our hope for the earth's future.  Each meditation is preceded by a quotation from a spiritual tradition and followed by a prayer exercise.

Holding Beauty in My Soul's Arms

A GUIDE FOR POST-MODERN PILGRIMS
SEEKING AUTHENTIC SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION

by Kevin Thew Forrester

“Kevin Thew Forrester’s Holding Beauty in My Soul’s Arms is a book for many, if not most, of us on the journey toward deeper spiritual formation. It offers a resting place, a reflective learning place where we may pause and savor at our own pace the riches of scripture, tradition, and reason as well as post-modern psychology, ethics, cultural studies, and systems theory. Familiar stories, presented in informative and provocative ways, take on greater vibrancy. Narratives of saints, ancient and modern, hold up reflections of human transformation. As we move into an unknown future, foundational theological questions about how we perceive ourselves and God are candidly and plainly opened up. It is in the doing of theology – reflecting upon our experience and that of wider communities – that we find nurture, insight and guidance toward Christian transformation.

EARTH POEMS AND PROSE FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Compiled and Edited by Anne Rowthorn

Anne Rowthorn believes that poets, prose writers, and philosophers offer us a multitude of ways to see the earth. They open earth's door and invite us to step into the garden of the universe. Language can move us to action; and her agenda in editing this stimulating collection of writings about nature from around the world is to challenge us to protect the natural world from ourselves.

The Marriage Journey

PREPARATIONS AND PROVISIONS FOR LIFE TOGETHER

by The Rev. Linda L. Grenz and Dr. Delbert C. Glover

The two authors of this book, Linda Grenz and Del Glover, say at the outset that they are ordinary Christians writing for ordinary Christians and ordinary congregations. So why has this book become a classic for couples about to marry, couples already married, and the congregations that support them? Because they approach the ordinary issues couples face in marriage from the life-experience perspectives of an Episcopal priest (Linda) and a former corporate executive (Del) who worked with people as they faced various family-related issues. They invite readers to use the book in ways that speak most directly to them and offer questions for the couple to discuss and others that engage a congregation. The book is filled with probing questions for the individual to consider and couples to discuss.

CREATIVE METHODS OF HIV AND AIDS EDUCATION

by Phyllis Wezeman

An estimated 2.6 million people became newly infected with HIV in 2010 and about 1.8 million people died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2009 (UN figures). In the USA, over 700,000 people are living with a diagnosed HIV infection and there are about 40,000 new diagnoses a year. Educating those who risk infecting themselves or other people is the best way to stop the spread of HIV and AIDS. People must be responsible for their own behavior. If the AIDS epidemic is to be stopped, people must understand the disease – its course, its nature, and its prevention.
