Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
This is contemporary re-telling of the story in the Broadway musical with music by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Weber. it is short enough (78 minutes) to watch in one sitting or can be divided into multiple sessions to use with The Joseph Story Program. It has the star power of former teen icon Donny Osmond, who played over 1,800 performances across North America.
This work was originally written in 1968 as a school cantata. So this film uses a framing sequence of a school recital, with an audience of clapping, singing kids and members of the faculty playing the roles. The Old Testament tale of Joseph and his coat of many colors gets a splashy, vigorous treatment with an energetic cast, Las Vegas-style glitz, and catchy, eclectic songs, including "Any Dream Will Do," "Close Every Door," the peppy "Go, Go, Go Joseph," and various bits of country, calypso, and Elvis.
A five-session mini-course, The Joseph Story, is available to use with this DVD, making it an easy supplement to Sunday School or to expand into use as a VBS program. This DVD is used with the Mustard Seed Series Curriculum but also can be used to enhance any curriculum that includes the Joseph story (e.g. as the movie workshop of a rotation workshop curriculum).
