Hymnody
This course is designed to explore the broad scope of Christian hymnody using the books available to us from our churches as primary resources. It is not to simply be an overview of what is in our particular books. This broad knowledge should be applied to the participants’ unique situations and resources. Hymnody is fundamentally poetry. However, it is poetry intended to be sung by an assembly of worshipers. For the sake of this course, we use the term “hymnody” to refer to both text and tune and how they interact.
