Description
Mentoring the Marriage Journey
prepares marriage mentors to lead marriage preparation sessions or marriage enrichment sessions using the
Marriage Journey
book (available from Church Publishing).
Mentoring the Marriage Journey
is a training program designed to help you develop a core of lay and/or ordained marriage mentors to be part of a pastoral team and work under the supervision of the rector, associate or someone responsible for preparing couples for marriage. Marriage mentors can function in a variety of ways. They can:
Lead groups of three or four couples in marriage preparation group discussions on a regular basis (e.g., weekly), during two Saturdays or some other time configuration
Work one-on-one with a couple
Lead follow-up retreats for couples a few months or a couple of years after the wedding
Build ongoing relationships with couples, meeting periodically with them for the first few years after marriage
Lead adult education groups for couples married for many years (the book has discussion questions for both "to-be-married" and for long-time married couples)
This resources includes:
Leader's Guide that is a step-by-step training program
Participant's Book to accompany the training program
Weekend Retreat Guide for a Marriage Preparation Retreat or a Marriage Enrichment Retreat
